Preview: Manager Dave Worthington is looking forward to the game against the runaway First Division leaders, following Saturdays superb 4-1 win at sixth placed Sandbach United. "We are looking forward to Silsden on Tuesday and after yesterday’s good win myself and the Management team have some selection dilemmas, which is exactly what we want. The last time we played Silsden, back in mid-August at home, was also midweek and it’s important we learn our lessons from that game. We were competitive against them for 60 minutes that night, so we must look at that as a positive against the league leaders who have a 100% record up to now."

Last Time Out:

Last Saturday AFC beat 4-1 at the Sandbach Community Football Centre in an entertaining game, and moved up one place to 10th, just one point behind the playoff places with a game in hand on most sides above them. Meanwhile, Silsden maintained their 100% start to the season with a 3-1 win away at Stockport Town

Silsden are currently unbeaten and have won all nine First Division games, with 27 points. They have scored 23 goals and conceded just six times. Leading scorer is Joseph Gaun with eight goals from nine games.

During their earlier years in the North West Counties League Silsden played their home games at Cougar Park, home of the rugby league club Keighley Cougars. However, in early 2010 plans were put in place to upgrade their former ground in Silsden. With the help of the Football Foundation, Sports England and Asda Foundation, the club committee, players as well as the generosity of sponsors and local businesses, their dream came true when they returned in time for the start of the 2010–11 season. Floodlights, a stand, new dugouts, coffee hut, pay-hut, walkway, perimeter fencing and barriers were all put in place to complement the newly erected £1.2 million Sports Club which houses 6 changing rooms, two referees' rooms, a physiotherapy room and a function room.

Silsden History:

The first ever Silsden AFC was formed at a meeting at Silsden Liberal Club in September 1904. They adopted the Blue and White playing kit that had been used by the recently defunct village Rugby Club and a field adjacent to the original rugby field on Keighley Road was hired, which is where they now play again. In 2004–05, they reached the second round of the FA Vase.
They are one of only two teams ever to win the West Riding County FA Cup three years on the trot – 2001, 2002 and 2003 before joining the North West Counties Football League the season after and gaining promotion to the Premier Division, along with Cammell Laird 1907, at their first attempt. Current manager is Danny Forrest.
